Underway to Charleston

We left Fernandina Beach on Tuesday around noon and made into Charleston around 4pm on Wednesday. The weather was fair headed out and throughout the day, but overnight winds died a bit and shifted from the southeast to the southwest, making it a little tricky to avoid jibing, even with a preventer rigged, which made for interesting sleeping when not on watch. It was amazing to see the sunset, then moonrise and then sunrise the following morning all underway. Waves increased Wednesday throughout the day, and when we were coming into the harbor entrance, we had steady 15-20 knots with some pretty stiff gusts on top of that.

After arriving in Charleston, we got northerly winds gusting up to 25 knots overnight and a big drop in temperature, which made us glad to be at the dock.
